Description of lamp did not do justice, nor did it state how WONDERFUL to have the lamp turn on with a simple light touch of any metal part -yes!- No switches/no buttons. A bonus: With a plain 100W bulb, 3 different strengths of light are possible. Each touch brings on another strength, next touch turns off. Superb contemporary design: Worth the high price.
